Bicyclic epoxide-containing anabolic steroids (BEA) are a class of steroidal drug developed by Russell Organix, an American biotechnology company.
Chemistry
BEAs have been the subject of research as they have been shown to exhibit anabolic and/or androgenic activity. BEA differs from the first-generation BEA derivatives by having a 7α(4R)-hydroxy-4-androstene and being substituted by a bicyclic epoxide.
BEA compounds can be produced by microbial or chemical processes. They may be used as an alternative to natural androgens such as testosterone, as well as natural progestins such as progesterone.
